Steel / Iron / Ferrous Metals

Engineered for steel mills, iron foundries, and ferrous metal processing operations, Plibrico delivers high-performance refractory solutions for induction furnaces, billet reheat furnaces, and roller hearth furnaces. You gain durable steel furnace refractory linings built for thermal shock resistance, abrasion resistance, energy efficiency, and extended service life helping you reduce downtime, lower maintenance costs, and maximize production reliability.

Durable Refractory Products for Steel / Iron / Ferrous Metals Processing

Designed to reduce downtime and extend furnace life, Plibrico monolithic refractory solutions are engineered for the extreme thermal conditions found in steel mills, iron foundries, and ferrous metal processing operations. Our steel furnace refractory materials, including castables, plastic refractories, and low-cement castables, perform in induction furnaces, reheat furnaces, transfer troughs, launders, and ladles, delivering thermal shock resistance, abrasion resistance, and long-term durability in high-temperature steel production environments.

As the first manufacturer to introduce a complete line of plastic and low-cement refractory products, Plibrico has more than 100 years of experience manufacturing field-tested steel and iron refractory linings that improve safety, reduce maintenance costs, increase reliability, and optimize operational efficiency across every stage of your ferrous metals processing operation.

Durable Refractory Products for Steel / Iron / Ferrous Metal Processing

HyMOR Series

Engineered for high-temperature steel furnaces and alloy contact areas, Plibrico’s HyMOR steel refractory castables deliver very high strength, superior abrasion resistance, and exceptional thermal shock resistance. These low cement (LC) and ultra-low cement (ULC) castables are bonded with a high-purity calcium aluminate cement (CAC) matrix 3–8% CAC (LC) and 0.5–3% CAC (ULC) providing durable performance in severe alkali and high-wear steel production environments.

Designed for steel mills and ferrous metal processing operations, HyMOR refractory materials can be cast, pumped, or supplied as precast shapes. You gain high-alumina refractory linings that maintain strength across operating temperature ranges while reducing maintenance frequency and extending furnace campaign life.

Conventional Castable Series

An economical workhorse engineered for steel mills and ferrous metal processing operations, our conventional refractory castables deliver dependable performance in steel furnaces, induction furnaces, and reheat furnace applications. Designed for thermal efficiency and durability, these monolithic refractory materials provide reliable volume stability and solid mechanical strength in general steel processing environments.

Formulated with a versatile blend of high-quality aggregates and binders, these steel refractory castables are easy to install and produce rugged linings built to withstand daily thermal cycling. Available in a wide range of properties, they can be tailored to meet the specific temperature, abrasion, and operational demands of your steel production process.

Plastic Series

A tried-and-true solution for steel mills and ferrous metal processing operations, Plibrico’s plastic refractory materials deliver exceptional resistance to thermal shock during rapid heating and cooling cycles in steel furnaces, ladles, and reheat applications. These high-temperature steel refractory plastics provide excellent refractoriness and volume stability under severe operating conditions.

All Plibrico phosphate-bonded plastic refractories utilize Pliphos, our proprietary monoaluminum phosphoric acid blend, engineered to extend refractory lining service life and improve bond strength to existing refractory surfaces. Designed for high-temperature steel environments, these durable plastic refractories reduce maintenance frequency, handle extreme thermal loads, and serve as a reliable solution for steel furnace repairs and relines.

Fast Track Series

Engineered for steel furnaces and ferrous metal processing operations, Plibrico’s Fast Track refractory technology cuts dry-out time in half, allowing steel refractory castables to be heated without the traditional ramp-and-hold schedule. This rapid dry-out refractory system delivers the ideal balance between high mechanical strength, thermal shock resistance, and accelerated heat-up performance.

Designed to minimize production downtime in induction furnaces, reheat furnaces, and ladle applications, Fast Track materials allow you to move from installation to operation in as little as 20 hours. Easy to cast or gun with low rebound, these steel refractory solutions help reduce outage time without sacrificing durability or long-term lining performance.

LWI Series

An essential component of multi-layer steel furnace lining systems, Plibrico lightweight insulating castables are engineered as backup refractory linings behind hot face steel refractory materials to reduce shell temperatures and improve energy efficiency. Ideal for steel mills and ferrous metal processing operations, these insulating refractory castables help lower heat loss and protect furnace structures.

Formulated for high porosity, low bulk density, and low thermal conductivity, our lightweight refractory (LWI) products deliver reliable thermal insulation and stable physical properties across operating temperature ranges. The result is improved furnace efficiency, extended lining life, and enhanced performance in induction furnaces, reheat furnaces, and other high-temperature steel applications.
