The most recent beneficiary of this managements perspective is Lou Calderon, Refractory CAD Designer in the company’s Engineering Department in Northbrook, Illinois. Lou is the proud recipient of API 936 Refractory Personnel Certification, having demonstrated advanced knowledge of installation, inspection, testing and repair of monolithic refractory linings. Lou this month passed the rigorous API 936 exam administered by the American Petroleum Institute (API), a national trade association representing all facets of the natural gas and oil industry.

Refractories are widely used in petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and power generation where they play a critical role in ensuring the base metals in processing equipment are protected. Plibrico employees with API 936 Refractory Personnel Certification confront the challenges of installing refractories in these applications from a position of strength, adding value to the process and maximizing the customer’s return on investment. They are uniquely qualified with in-depth knowledge of API’s defined installation procedures and acceptance criteria regarding the materials, equipment and inspection needed to achieve superior outcomes.
